Youth Scholarship - Western Districts Cricket Club

Western Districts Cricket Club is a grade cricket club based in the Belconnen region of the ACT. It was formed over 50 years ago and has enjoyed a large amount of success through the years. As well as fostering talented cricketers from within the ACT, Wests has also has a strong tradition of encouraging young talent from throughout rural NSW to test their skills in the competitive ACT Grade Cricket Competition. As a result Wests boast an enviable list of players who have gone on to greater things, including no other than Australia’s third highest all-time Test wicket-taker, Nathan Lyon.

L&D is very proud to announce it will be the sponsor for Western District Cricket Club’s Regional Youth Scholarship for the 2019/20 season. The aim of the scholarship is to contribute funding to assist a young player from rural NSW to move to Canberra to play for the club to help continue Wests history of helping development young talented crickets. L&D employs 3 former and current players of Wests and is proud to offer this sponsorship to encourage more young talent from the local region to play for a very fine cricket club.

This years scholarship has been awarded to Nic Broes, an excellent young all-rounder from Bathurst, NSW. Nic has represented the Under 19s ACT/NSW Country Academy Squad and took home the Bathurst Districts Cricket Association Cricketer of the Year prize for the 2018/19 season.
