COMMERCIAL ASBESTOS & HAZMAT

ASBESTOS MANAGEMENT PLANS

All non-residential or commercial buildings built before 31 December 2003 require asbestos survey be completed for the site. Where asbestos is identified an asbestos management plan must be reviewed and/or revised at least once every five (5) years or more frequently where the asbestos assessment indicates the need for more frequent reassessment. The management should also be reviewed if site conditions change (i.e. asbestos is damaged/removed).

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS REPORTS

Prior to the demolition of commercial premises within the ACT built prior to 1985, an intrusive hazardous materials (HAZMAT) assessment of the site structures must be completed.

Hazardous materials surveys includes assessment for:
Asbestos;
Lead Paint;
Synthetic Mineral Fibres (SMF);
Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCBs);
Ozone depleting substances and;
Fuel storage tanks
