In early September 2019, Safe Work Australia released a new guidance document titled “Working with silica and silica containing products”.
This document has been developed to provide a person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) who has workers that work with silica or silica containing products, with guidance that explains what they must do to keep workers safe from the risks of respirable crystalline silica (silica dust). This includes discussing the responsibilities of the different parties involved and information about the different control options which can be utilised to manage the risks.
