Residential Asbestos Assessments
Residential asbestos surveys are undertaken by ACT licensed Asbestos Assessors to locate, as far as reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of any asbestos containing materials (ACM) in a residential property. Samples are collected from materials that are suspected of containing asbestos and a report is produced outlining the risks associated with any identified ACM and any recommended actions to help ensure a safe home for you and your family.
As well as ensuring safe day-to-day living for your family, asbestos assessments are a legislative requirement prior to works being carried out which may disturb ACM. As asbestos poses a risk when it is disturbed, it is vital that any ACM present within your property is safely removed by suitably trained and licensed professionals prior to renovation works commencing.
Material analysis reports are an affordable way of having upto 4 building materials from your property sampled and analysed for asbestos content. This service is generally recommended for clients who are looking to renovate one or two areas of a property or are concerned that a particular material within their property may contain asbestos.
General Process for Residential Asbestos Assessments
Once you have booked in your asbestos assessment an ACT licensed Asbestos Assessor will attend the site to undertake the assessment. Where necessary the assessor will sample materials suspected of containing asbestos. Following sampling, the sample locations are cleaned of any debris and, if required, sealed with paint. Samples are sent for analysis at a National Association of Testing Laboratories (NATA) accredited laboratory.
